12 Days of Giving – Day 11: Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement is highlighted in Day 11 of the #12DaysofGiving Celebration. Wiss is proud to celebrate this organization that inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy.

Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. JA helps prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

JA’s unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver the curriculum while sharing experiences with students. Embodying the heart of JA, their more than 213,000 classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world.

Wiss aims to participate annually in the CPA Bowl-A-Thon where Accounting firms throughout northern NJ participate in bowling matches against other firms. A portion of the proceeds raised from the event goes directly to the students in the JA Program. Jackson Zheng, Audit Staff Associate explains, “Going to the 2015 CPA Bowl-A-Thon was a fun experience. We got to network with professionals from different industries while enjoying a couple of matches with co-workers. Best part about it is that a portion of the proceeds go to students in the Junior Achievement program. Looking forward to participating again next year!”
