Anthony R. Calascibetta

Tony has vast experience in bankruptcy and troubled-company consulting across a variety of industries. He offers financial and advisory services to creditor committees, individual creditors, Chapter 7 Trustees, Chapter 11 Trustees, debtors-in-possession and bankruptcy examiners. Tony also applies his expertise in litigation matters, including cases involving white-collar crime, purchase price disputes, accountant malpractice, breach of contract, fraudulent financial reporting and damage calculations.

He provides consulting on bankruptcy cases and litigation matters. Tony has assisted Trustees and their counsel in performing forensic and fraud investigations, bankruptcy Rule 2004 investigations and the development of plans of reorganization.

Some of the cases Mr. Calascibetta has worked on include Ranger Industries, Inc. Reorganization and Product Liability Trusts (formerly Coleco Industries, Inc.), Crowthers McCall Pattern Company, Sterling Optical Corporation, Bicoastal Corporation, Grossingers, Inc., Bradlees, Pan Am, Memorex Telex, Inc., Massachusetts Recycling, Labrum & Dock, Headstrong Group, Inc., Shareholders Funding, Inc., Select Nutrition Distributors, Telebrands, Inc., Tops Appliances, Inc., Burns & Roe Enterprises, Inc. United States Mineral Products Company and Celentano Bros., Inc.  During these assignments, Mr. Calascibetta negotiated plans of reorganization, the sales of receivables, inventories and properties, settled various litigations, supervised the distribution of cash, stocks and warrants, and coordinated the liquidation of subsidiaries in Europe and North America.

As a result of his bankruptcy, troubled company, litigation consulting and auditing assignments, Mr. Calascibetta has worked in several industries. These industries include toy manufacturing, retail furniture, retail department store chains, construction, optical eyewear, frozen foods manufacturing and distribution, receivables factoring, mortgage banking, shipyard and marina operations, sports memorabilia, cigarette and cigar distribution, hotel operations, chemical manufacturing, bicycle helmet manufacturing, cruise lines, freight forwarding, shipping, airlines, recycling, emerging businesses, technology, real estate and service companies.  He also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, tax investigations, environmental evaluations and divestitures.

Mr. Calascibetta graduated from Iona College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  In 1983, he became a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Turnaround Professional in 2001.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Insolvency Accountants, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a member of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.

Mr. Calascibetta has lectured to attorneys and other professionals including the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (“ICLE”), the Turnaround Management Association conferences and meetings, and the Essex County Bar Association on topics including:  Locating Hidden Assets, Criminal and Civil Aspects of Business Fraud and Identifying Common Fraudulent Schemes In and Out of Bankruptcy, Bankruptcy Asset Sales, Data Theft and Identity Theft. His article “Business Interruption Claim? Avoid a Settlement Nightmare” was recently published in the Fall 2007 issue of the Essex County Bar Chronicle and in The WISS Advisor Summer 2007 issue.
