12 Days of Giving – Day 1: NJ Sharing Network

NJ Sharing Network is highlighted in Day 1 of the #12DaysofGiving Celebration. Wiss is proud to highlight this organization and their very caring and dedicated employees.

The NJ Sharing Network is a non-profit, federally designated organ procurement organization. They are responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for the nearly 5,000 New Jersey residents currently awaiting transplantation. Additionally, they are also part of the national recovery system, which is in place for the more than 120,000 people on waiting lists.

By working closely with hospitals and transplant centers, and increasing awareness with education tools and the media, the number of organs recovered in New Jersey for transplant has quadrupled since NJ Sharing Network was founded. Through supporting hospital partners, medical examiners and funeral directors in the identification, referral and care of potential organ and tissue donors, NJ Sharing Network realizes their mutual goal of saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation.

For years, Wiss has been a proud sponsor of the NJ Sharing Network and it’s always been important for us to show our appreciation for all the Sharing Network does to help save lives. We had a wonderful time participating in the New Providence Annual 5k Celebration of Life. During this specific event, NJ Sharing Network raised over $1million, so we were happy to be a part of their incredible milestone.

Staff Associate, Erin Silkowski recalls, “The most touching part was hearing about all the families that the NJ Sharing Network has helped. I felt honored that Wiss sponsors a life-changing organization and am proud to be part of a firm culture that values helping the community.”
